Lawn care company goes to help a veteran clean his lawn after he gets HOA notices. Then they allegedly stumble into a 50-year plot to steal land

“We spent 50 years waiting for this.”

A TikToker’s simple act of kindness seems to have turned the unmasking of a long-term land grab. Macy Klein (@maci.klein3) recently uploaded a video on TikTok when he discovered this situation, racking up over 79.7 K views. Klein claims that he frequently performs charity lawn care for elderly individuals who struggle to maintain their properties. This time, he found himself in the middle of an alleged dispute while trying to help a 78-year-old veteran named Raymond.

At the start of the video, we see an older man with a rollator, yelling, ”You’re on my property.” Klein goes on to identify the man as an HOA president named Dale. At that point, he asks a question to set up the situation: “I had it surveyed. Buddy, let me ask you this. When did you have your survey done? 1985.” He then goes on to allege, “And you’ve been trying to steal land for 50 f–king years from every neighbor?”

As he shows his viewers clips of the crew taming the plants and grass on the property, Klein claims that he came to help Raymond because he had been receiving repeated violation notices from his homeowners association. Klein alleged that Dale lived right next door and had been slowly encroaching onto Raymond’s property. Purportedly, every time the veteran or his wife attempted to address the issue, Dale would threaten them with violation notices over their lawn that they were too old to take care of.

A death supposedly escalated the situation

Klein told his viewers, “When Raymond’s wife passed away last year, Dale saw his opportunity. The HOA sent Raymond four violation notices in 60 days. Dale was determined to push out the only person who knew about his scheme.” This was how Klein said he entered the picture. It should be noted that all we have is Klein’s perspective, and the story cannot be verified as it is uploaded with very little information.

Klein claimed that they were there clearing the land for less than 15 minutes when Dale came by and threatened them to leave. When they told him they knew what was happening, he allegedly claimed he was the HOA president and that nobody would believe them. Klein claimed that he and his team had already secured a professional survey of the property.

The TikToker alleged that when the HOA board reviewed the new survey, they discovered that the problem was much larger than just one yard. Dale’s fence was supposedly sitting six feet inside Raymond’s property line, and it had also been encroaching on another neighbor’s land for decades.

In his post, Klein claimed the situation ended with some punitive action. “The board voted unanimously to strip Dale of his presidency on the spot. And ordered that fence torn down and moved back to the correct property line within 30 days at his own expense.” However, it was Raymond’s reaction that got to Klein when he saw the yard. Raymond allegedly wrote, “We spent 50 years waiting for this. I just wish she was here.”

Property encroachment can be a very serious matter. According to Opendoor, an encroachment occurs when a neighbor builds or extends something onto your property without permission. This can include anything from fences and sheds to driveways and roof eaves. As the Opendoor guide explains, encroachments are essentially unauthorized intrusions, which differ from easements, which are authorized uses of a neighbor’s land.

Whether an encroachment is intentional or accidental, it can create a significant headache in the same way as a property inspection. Opendoor noted that it can cloud a property title, trigger legal disputes, and make selling a home incredibly difficult. Since property lines are not always obvious, many people go years without realizing their neighbor’s fence or shed is sitting on their land. Over time, these issues can lead to claims of adverse possession.

This is where a neighbor who uses a portion of your land openly for an extended period might eventually try to claim legal ownership. Opendoor wrote that the most reliable way to identify an encroachment is to hire a licensed surveyor to perform a current boundary survey. Relying on old plat maps or informal visual markers is often what leads to these disputes in the first place.

If you find yourself in a similar position, it is best to start with a calm, friendly conversation. Many people do not realize they are encroaching on a neighbor’s land. However, if that fails, formal written notices and legal consultation are necessary to protect your property rights. Having a current survey, like the one Klein says his team obtained, is often the deciding factor in property disputes.
