Mom says school made her first-grade son sit in his urine. Then he goes missing on his bus ride home: ‘my first red flag’

Imagine that panic.

A mother says her son’s first weeks at a traditional school went wrong twice within days. The first problem allegedly sent him home in dried, soiled clothes. The second left her waiting at a bus stop with no child in sight.

Faith, who posts on TikTok as @mamafaith114, shared the account in a video that opens with the line “The school lost my kid.” She says her son was homeschooled until this year. After his first week of first grade, he did not want to talk about it. “That should have been my first red flag.”

By the end of the second week, she says, he was denied a potty break. He wet his pants and sat in them all day, according to Faith. He reportedly came home smelling of urine, and she says it had already dried.

Then came the bus ride

The following Monday, she says, he boarded his usual bus at the usual stop. That afternoon, she waited there with another mom. The bus stopped a couple of blocks away, and the children ran toward their parents. Her son never got off the bus – a situation that tends to leave other parents worried when their children fail to arrive at the expected stop. The other mom asked, “where’s your baby?”

She asked a neighbor to watch her three-year-old, who was asleep in a stroller. Then she phoned the school. Staff allegedly put her on hold to reach transportation and then told her son was still on the bus, adding that it should return in about 20 minutes.

Nobody showed up. “I called 911,” she says. By then, 30 minutes had passed. She also called her mother-in-law and texted her best friend.

“I am literally freaking out,” she says. She sat on the side of the road, crying, because she did not know where he was. Her son was finally dropped off almost an hour after his scheduled time.

School bus safety extends beyond the ride itself, with children also vulnerable while waiting at stops and walking between buses and their homes. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says school districts should consider students’ ages, routes, and stop locations when planning transportation. Its guidance also notes that most school bus transportation policies are set at the state and local levels, making the rules that apply to an incident dependent on where it happened.

The mother has not identified the school or location. She also has not shared where her son was during the delay or why the bus arrived late. Bus mix-ups involving small children are not unheard of, and other parents have pressed schools for answers after similar scares.

The comment section leaned toward legal action. One person wrote, “this is a form of neglect I would suggest to get a lawyer.” Whether a claim could hold up would likely depend on school records and what staff knew at the time. Another asked, “How are you going to deny a 1st grader a potty break…???” A third said “My little brother also got lost by the school two years ago” and described a similar scare involving a wrong bus.

The mother claims she has now pulled her son out of school. “I’m done. We can homeschool. I will hire a tutor. I do not care.”
