Property owner’s representative shows up with a stranger and tells the tenant that she is moving in: ‘I’m gonna contact the police right now’

She says her landlord never countersigned her lease

A tenant filming from her open doorway said a property owner’s representative arrived with another woman and described the visit as an attempt to move that woman in. The TikTok clip, posted by @takedistv, had drawn about 556,800 views.

In the video, the tenant stood inside the house and faced two women on the front steps. One wore a black leather jacket over a maroon top and held papers. The other wore a black jacket and shorts and carried a yellow envelope and bags. When the tenant asked what the intention was, the woman holding the papers replied, “To move a tenant into this.”

The tenant then asked when anyone had told her that a stranger would be moving into the house she said she was renting and had leased. She said the second bedroom was her son’s room and asked when it had been communicated that the room was for rent or that anybody was moving in. She said the arrangement was not in the listing and was not listed in the lease agreement she signed.

The tenant says the owner never countersigned her lease

The woman with the papers asked, “Okay, okay. Um, could I see the lease agreement?” The tenant said she had it on her phone. She named the owner as Sadiq and said he failed to countersign it. She said that failure also made it illegal to collect any security deposit or move-in funds from her, which she said was why payment was not being received.

She said her attorney specifically told her to withhold until the money was properly allocated and she had received a countersigned lease agreement. She added that he failed to provide it after four different dates on which she requested it. She then told the representative she might want to help the other woman get a hotel room, because that woman would not be moving into the house with her.

The tenant held up a black tumbler and asked, “Oh, is this yours? Whose is this?” The representative replied, “I don’t know.” The tenant asked who had been there on Wednesday of the previous week, saying whoever it was left the item behind and that it was not hers. The representative said, “I don’t know that either. I’ve never seen it.”

The tenant said she knew because the homeowner broke the law and did not provide 48-hour notice of entry. She said he entered her home when he thought she was not there, or when he thought she did not have anybody checking on the house. She then said, “I’m gonna contact the police right now.” She added that the incident would be documented and told the woman she needed to figure it out.

She said the woman was not a manager and that this was the first time she had ever encountered her. She described a property manager as the person who does all the communicating, does all the lease work, and does everything from start to finish. She said she had been in the industry for 12 years and that she oversaw six properties in Washington State.

She said several laws had been broken and asked, “You understand that, right? Like, do you understand that?” The woman in the leather jacket replied, “I understand what you’re saying.” The tenant then told her to get her things and help the other woman find a place to stay, saying, “She will not be moving into my house with me. She’s not listed on the lease agreement.”

She added, “And while I’m at it, again, it is still recording.” The camera briefly showed bags of belongings on the porch steps before the video ended. It is a dispute that has also played out in Washington, where a woman confronted her landlord over moving a stranger into her son’s bedroom.

Viewers split over who was in the wrong. One commenter focused on the tenant’s tone and wrote, “Why is she yelling at the lady? So rude.” Another treated the withheld payment as the main issue and wrote, “So….shes not paying her rent!!”

Some viewers focused on the woman who had arrived with bags. One wrote, “I lowkey feel bad for the girl who was finna move in she had no idea.” Another kept the advice short and wrote, “just shut the door.” A separate commenter urged legal help and wrote, “That’s crazy what she’s doing.. get a lawyer.”

One viewer suggested the scene looked like an unauthorized stay and wrote, “sounds like a squatter type situation.” Another user replied that it was not, saying they had found the creator’s actual account and a story time. That reply said she paid for three months in March, that this happened in May, and that her landlord was trying to collect double rent and falsify documents to get her out because he found another tenant willing to pay more. The reply also said the landlord is apparently a multimillionaire.

However, whether it is true or not hasn’t been confirmed. According to the account bio, this was a second account, and the creator said her old account got hacked. She had not posted an update video. The tenant’s dispute with her landlord is a different kind of housing fight, as California squatters have exploited tenant laws to occupy homes and demand payouts.
