Scared of nightmare laundry room, woman kept buying clothes …until she had to step inside, this time with a baseball bat

That is a hard "Nope!"

A woman’s late-night trip to her apartment building’s laundry room has become a viral sensation because she has to carry a baseball bat just to make it through the routine. This isn’t a scene from a new horror flick; according to Newsweek, it’s the reality for TikTok user @hiitsmillzy, whose journey to the basement is truly terrifying.

The video starts with the woman challenging viewers, asking, “Y’all think your basement is scary?” before she descends a staircase and steps right into absolute darkness. This isn’t just a slightly dingy room; it’s an unfinished, nightmare-inducing space. Much scarier than the laundry habits of roommates or the laundry tantrums of partners.

As she narrates her trip across a mostly empty room, you can see exposed wires dangling from the ceiling, random old furniture scattered across the concrete floor, with most of the room fading into darkness. As she reaches the washer and dryer, she points out that she never fully explored the area. The absolute worst part? She pointed out a closed door she refuses to open, admitting she has no idea what’s lurking behind it.

It is a perfect setting for a horror game

This whole setup explains exactly why she keeps that bat handy. This isn’t just for show; she pauses to check corners and keeps moving quickly, sprinting back after unloading her clothes.  She explained the immense pressure of the nightly routine, saying, “I gotta do my laundry in hopes that no one’s behind me, and I gotta do it quick!”

With it being so scary, one commenter joked that she should just buy new clothes every week. Here’s where the story gets wild: the woman actually replied that she was doing exactly that for a while! She admitted that she has stacked up about ten laundry baskets full of clothes because she completely ran out of closet space.

Other TikTok users agreed, declaring they would avoid the basement at all costs. One person declared, “Hard pass….I’ll hand-wash my clothes.” One contributor wrote that the laundromat would be their choice, adding, “That basement would never see me.”

While avoiding the building’s horror movie set is definitely the preferred option for peace of mind, the reality is that using an external laundromat can get expensive fast. However, as this woman’s terrifying routine shows us, sometimes paying extra for a laundromat is definitely worth it. You’re not just paying to wash your socks; you’re paying for the peace of mind that you won’t run into something creepy while doing your chores.
