She was 8 mins away from home when 911 warned about an intruder. Then the voice on the recording sounds exactly like hers: ‘I hadn’t reported’

She never called 911. Apparently, she did

A TikTok creator’s retelling of a late-night 911 call has spread across the platform with a story that takes a stranger turn than a typical home invasion scare. According to the creator, who posts on TikTok as Scared With Jess, the story began on an ordinary Thursday night as she drove home from a late shift at work.

Her phone rang through her car speakers, and the number showed emergency services. When she answered, a dispatcher told her they had received a disconnected 911 call from her number. Jess says she hadn’t touched her phone since leaving work and told the dispatcher, “I hadn’t reported” any emergency.

Per the video, she was asked to confirm her name and address, and was then told that the caller had reported someone inside her home. The dispatcher said a woman had whispered Jess’s full address and name into the phone for about 20 seconds before the line cut out. Officers were already on the way, so Jess pulled into a gas station roughly a mile from her house to wait.

The dispatcher said the caller sounded exactly like her

Jess mentions an old, disconnected phone sitting in a kitchen drawer, and the dispatcher suggested it may have somehow placed the emergency call. Then the dispatcher told her something Jess couldn’t explain away quite as easily: “The caller was speaking in your voice.” Jess pushes back in the clip, saying “people’s voices can sound alike over the phone,” though she notes the dispatcher “didn’t sound convinced.”

One top comment raised a question that would follow the story through the rest of the video: “hmmm, a mimic telling on themselves or trying to save her??” That question became stranger after officers search the house and reportedly find it locked, undisturbed, and empty. They also checked the bedroom closet where the caller says she was hiding, leaving Jess with no obvious explanation for the voice on the line or whether someone could have been hiding in the closet all along.

The recording, played back for Jess in her kitchen, included the lines “there’s someone in my house,” “I’m in the bedroom closet,” and “I can hear him walking in the background.” Footsteps can also be heard moving across the floor, which Jess says matched the hardwood floors inside her home. The call was timestamped 10:47 p.m., eight minutes ahead of the actual time. Minutes later, Jess says her phone dialed 911 on its own while her ringtone played from an empty bedroom down the hall.

Reaction in the comments ranged from nervous humor, with one viewer writing, “I bet them officers were scared asf,” to viewers trying to piece together what the ending might mean. One lengthy theory imagined the same call happening again years later, with the commenter concluding, “she realizes help will come, but only in the past. She’s on her own.”

The video ends with Jess saying she never learned who, or what, was hiding in her closet that night.
