If there’s one life lesson we’d all be wise to accept, it’s that there will always be people greater and lesser than ourselves; the sooner we rope that notion into our day-to-day attitudes, the sooner the world becomes a bit less heavy.

And thanks to TikTok, we now have permanent, palpable evidence of someone that’s miles greater than all of us, and his name is Gus.

Indeed, in just ten seconds, Gus shot to the single most untouchable spot on the planet’s karmic ladder by being the most gung-ho grocery helper one could ever hope to be, complete with a waddle that everyone must witness in order to have lived a full life.

You can tell by the spark in Gus’ eyes that the weight of human groceries, be it a gallon of milk or carton eggs, wasn’t nearly enough to put a damper on the pup’s wholesome tenacity, and if we ever find out that he didn’t receive a treat after performing the most perfect piece of free labor, the owner would be wise to prepare for international backlash.

And I have no doubt that this is just the beginning; Gus’ acclimation to the distinction of Earth’s champion may have come with a bag of groceries today, but who knows what’s in store for him tomorrow? Indeed, the foundation of every legend is a single step that lights the humanitarian fire in their heart, and as far as the history books can tell, nary was there ever a step (or four) more rousing than that of Gus the grocery dog.
