Tennessee Uber driver picks up bachelorette party group for brunch, only to become uncomfortable at what he overhears: ‘Cheated on him three times’

“I would like to say I don't know the full situation clearly.”

It’s been a full year since Brian Brister had one of the most uncomfortable rides of his life, and he decided it was finally time to share the story with his followers again. The former Uber driver reshared his storytime on TikTok and Instagram. Then in just one week, it racked up over 794K views as people clicked in to hear about the drama that unfolded in his backseat as he drove through Nashville

The situation centered on a bachelorette party group he picked up for brunch. According to Brister, the conversation was already hitting a boiling point before they even stepped into his car. The Tennessee resident alleged, “By the time you got in my car, I could tell you probably actually should have cancelled your Uber ride and continued this conversation inside your Airbnb. But the fact that you chose to have it in my car means that I get to talk about it.”

The tension in the vehicle was palpable. He noted that the bride had both a matron of honor and a maid of honor. He claimed, “To the matron of honour, I don’t know what your relationship with your husband is like, but it’s clearly not great, since you’ve already cheated on him three times this weekend. And to the maid of honour, I actually have to applaud you for being woman enough to call out your friend.”

Standing on principle

Brister joked, “That’s bold. I mean, you are a ginger, so I kind of could have expected it cause you’re bold.” However, according to his version of the story, things spun out of control. It should be noted that since the story is his perspective, it cannot be verified. He did admit that “I would like to say I don’t know the full situation clearly.”

He then went on to tell his audience, “However, matron of honour, since you did admit that you cheated on your husband three times this weekend, Bride, it was incredibly unexpected for you to side with the matron of honour and turn on the maid of honour and really give her a what for.”

Brister claimed that the situation escalated. He alleged, “But whenever you told the maid of honor that she could no longer be a part of your wedding or your bachelorette party, so she might as well take her freckled booty home, I was aghast. I was. Truly.”

He told his audience, “I did turn the app off and drive her back to the Airbnb to pack her luggage to get on a flight back home.” In a different recent incident, an Uber driver accidentally took off with someone’s luggage. Brister then sarcastically addressed the unknown bride, noting, “Since she could no longer count on you to be a friend. Best of luck in your marriage.”

The internet has been buzzing over Brister’s story. One user on TikTok compared the experience to a modern version of a classic show, saying, “This is 2026 Taxi Cab Confessions and I’m here for it all!!!”

Another user suggested the maid of honor should take matters into her own hands, writing, “If I were the Maid who got kicked out I would go hime and spill allll the secrets to the husband. He deserves to know.” In a different instance with cheating, a wife wore the girlfriend’s outfit to see if her husband would notice.

Brister’s story brings up interesting questions about how we support people during difficult times. According to The Wisdom Daily, helping someone through a crisis isn’t always about offering easy solutions or cheering them up. Instead, it’s about showing empathy. As Dr. Brené Brown notes, “Empathy fuels connection. Sympathy drives disconnection. Empathy is feeling with people.”

When someone is going through a traumatic event, like finding out about a spouse’s infidelity, the best approach isn’t to offer empty platitudes or tell them everything will be fine. It’s about simply being there. The Wisdom Daily emphasizes that instead of saying “Let me know if you need anything,” which puts the burden on the person struggling, it’s better to offer specific, tangible help like cooking or helping with errands.

The site noted that sometimes, the most important thing is to let the person know they aren’t alone. Since this story was a reshare, some of Brister’s audience who had seen the original post couldn’t help but wonder what happened after.

One user noted, “I hope that maid of honor immediately tells the groom and husband of the matron of honor what happened when she gets home.” Another thanked Brister for his empathy, writing, “Bless you for taking her to the airport at no charge. Because she found out for sure that night that those were not her real friends and she was alone.”
