America Grace, who posts on TikTok as @americagracee, shared a video that has gained 2.1 million views. In the clip, she asked a store worker to walk her to her car after she said she noticed two men who appeared to separate around her inside Target.
On-screen text in the video reads, “here’s your sign to trust your gut and if something feels off/unusual in a store PLEASE ask a worker to walk you out” and “me stress laughing the entire time.” She described feeling nervous throughout the exchange.
In the caption, she said she was so nervous to ask someone to walk her out but would rather ask than have a situation escalate. She stated she was at Target at 9 a.m. to get stuff for work and had just seen a story of a woman who was cornered by two men.

She asked the worker, “Can I be really crazy? Will you walk out to the car with me? Only because there were these like two guys that were kind of like following around.” The off-screen male store worker replied, “Oh really?” She said they were both on the phone and then they split up. She added, “I don’t know, maybe I’m being freaked out about it, but yeah, better safe than sorry.” The worker said, “No, yeah, of course.”
She said she could be totally wrong and that she could be accusing two random people. The worker told her it was better to be safe. She and the worker then walked toward the store’s red-framed exit doors and out into the parking lot under a bright sky.
Outside, she pointed and said, “Um, one of them’s right there in that white shirt to the right on our sidewalk right here. We’re like separate, but then they like met up, so I don’t know.” She told the worker she had never asked someone to do that before. Such instincts can be lifesaving, like when a Florida woman trusted her spidey senses after men from a gas station followed her to a Walmart.
She said she appreciated him and that she felt bad because she could be accusing people. The worker replied, “Trust me, it better say good stuff.” She said, “I appreciate you. God bless you. I hope you have a great day.”
The video ends with her sitting in her car. She said, “I can’t believe that just freaking happened. I think I just feel like guilty.” In the caption, she added that if it was not for social media, she would not have thought to ask someone to make sure she got to her car, and that she still felt bad but had to realize it was for her safety.
Viewers responded to the video in the comments. One person urged her to leave the lot right away and wrote, “girl lock the doors and get us out of the parking lot i’m scared.” Another commenter told her to stop apologizing and wrote, “Girl please stop apologizing. You felt unsafe and asked for help. Women die bc they are worried about being rude.”
A third person said they had done the same thing for a shopper at another store and wrote, “My husband and I absolutely did this for a girl at Walmart once! She was like “this probably sounds crazy…” nope absolutely not!” Others told her not to sit in the car and to drive off. One wrote, “Never feel guilty, also get the hell out of there. No sitting in the car. Turn it on, buckle and DRIVE!!”
Another commenter described a similar experience at Target and wrote, “ALWAYS trust your gut! I thought a man was following me around target and he ended up following me into the dressing room and I caught him taking pictures of my from overtop of the stall next to me.” Trusting your instincts is a common theme in such stories, as in the case of a Texas woman who saw three men following her at Walmart.
