‘Trying my best not to freak out’: Mom is outraged after her 4-yo said he was taken by bus to another school — without her consent

This would be so scary for a parent to hear.

A concerned mother has taken to TikTok after her son told her that he had been taken by bus to another school during the day. The worrying part was that the mother had no clue about any planned trip.

“I’m trying my best right now not to freak out for the sake of my kid,” Lorie states at the start of her video, adding, “you know, sometimes kids say the darndest things.” She then goes on to explain how her 4-year-old son told her he was taken on board a bus during the middle of the school day and was taken to another school before being brought back.

This didn’t make sense to Lorie, who dropped him off at school and knew of no planned trips, plus he was in pre kindergarten so he’s not supposed to leave the building his mother drops him off at. Anyways, Lorie decided to ask another mother who’s child went to the same school. She said her son had told her he saw Lorie’s son leave school with a teacher. Upon hearing this Lorie admits, “[it] made my heart extra drop.” Apparently the other mother also told her that her son had claimed he “gets to ride a school bus now.”

My comments are being deleted so I’m just going to update here. There are also updates already on my page! Long story short though, this did end up being a huge misunderstanding. My child never left campus and the is plenty of evidence that backs that up. (To those saying you still don’t trust the evidence I have personally see as well as others, I don’t know what to tell you 🤷🏽‍♀️) For the other child who said they saw my child leave with that teacher it was because my son got poked in the eye by another child and was taken by that teacher to get an ice pack and to have his eye checked. We exhausted every way to make sure our son was safe and he absolutely is. If you as a stranger don’t trust that that is true then there really isn’t much else I can say. Thank you everyone for your support and concern, as well as the people whose concern came with hostility towards me as a person and parent. I’m still am going to refuse to name names or places because that would be unsafe for my child or anyone else even indirectly connected to this. For now just take this video as solely entertainment on tiktok because as of now it’s really nothing more. Thanks 😁

The whole thing understandably left Lorie confused and a little worried for her son. While she was certain it was nothing, she would have to wait until the next school day to check with teachers and ask them what was going on at that school.

The mystery is eventually solved

While waiting for Lorie to come back with an update people engaged in a TikTok-favorite pastime in the comments: Speculating and coming up with wild explanations. One person suggested that the kids might have been watching The Magic School Bus, another teacher hopped into the comments and explained, “We often have to do “whole school” bus safety.”

Others urged Lorie to take more drastic action, “Don’t show your cards yet. Start investigating yourself.” wrote one person, before suggesting Lorie sneak an airtag onto her son before taking him to school. Clearly some were worried that the worst was happening and that the school was covering it up.

In the end there wasn’t anything to worry about. In an update video Lorie states that spoke with the teachers and obtained camera footage as well as statements from other children confirming that her son never left the school. As for why her son and the other child were saying these things, well, Lorie doesn’t have an answer aside from perhaps having an overactive imagination.
