Washington, DC, woman’s Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse date stands her up. Then the restaurant steps in: ‘We’re your date tonight’

One restaurant saved the day when a woman's evening didn't go as planned.

For someone who has planned an evening with another person, getting stood up can feel like more than an awkward inconvenience. Arriving at a restaurant only to discover the date isn’t coming can leave them feeling embarrassed, disappointed, and frustrated.

A Washington, DC, woman says her date failed to show up at Fogo de Chão. However, the Brazilian steakhouse apparently refused to let her night end in disappointment.

TikTok creator Allthingstroi (@allthingstroi) shared the experience in an August 2026 post. She explained that she arrived at Fogo de Chão expecting to meet someone who never showed.

Stood up, but the night wasn’t over.

Once she realized what happened, the restaurant stepped in with a little unexpected hospitality. According to Allthingstroi, she received a complimentary drink and dessert.

@FogoDeChao the workers even said “we’re your date tonight”. I just want to say thank you so much for helping me through a rough experience. This was so kind of your restaurant in DC to do! Thank you for making this DMV princess feel like a queen 🥹. #fogodechao #fogodechão #placestoeatindc #washingtondc #districtofcolumbia

She said the restaurant also encouraged her to head to the bar, enjoy herself, and make the most of the evening. “Fogo de Chão came through,” she said. “They encouraged me to go to the bar and be young and turnt,” she said.

The restaurant apparently took the rescue mission one step further. In the caption accompanying her TikTok, Allthingstroi said Fogo de Chão told her, “We’re your date tonight.”

She described the restaurant’s response as an example of excellent customer service and encouraged people experiencing a similar dating disaster to take themselves to Fogo de Chão.

“So if you ever get stood up, you need to take your b—t to Fogo de Chão, okay?” she said. “Because their customer service is top tier.”

Fogo de Chão showed up in the comments section.

Fogo de Chão even joined the conversation in the comments section of her TikTok. “So glad we could turn the night around. pick up your crown and let’s get you another date on us.”

Fogo de Chão, a Brazilian steakhouse chain, focuses on the churrasco tradition. Gaucho chefs bring fire-roasted cuts of meat directly to diners’ tables. Beyond the tableside-carved meats, the restaurant’s Market Table features an array of salads, fresh vegetables, cheeses, and other accompaniments, giving diners plenty to choose from throughout their meal.

For Allthingstroi, though, the standout part of the evening wasn’t necessarily the food. It was how the restaurant treated her after her date failed to appear.

Dating etiquette experts generally emphasize communicating promptly when plans change. Diane Gottsman, a nationally recognized etiquette expert, advises people to contact the other person immediately when an unexpected conflict arises, apologize for the change, and, when appropriate, suggest rescheduling.

For someone who has already arrived for a date, however, getting stood up forces them to decide whether to call it a night or make the most of the situation. In Allthingstroi’s case, Fogo de Chão gave her an unexpected reason to stay and enjoy the evening.
