Many people from all parts of the world, regardless of their background or culture, usually have a unique expression for just about any situation. Glizzy is a perfect example of such a term.
According to HipHop DX, the word glizzy, which is slang for gun (namely a glock), originated in Washington, D.C., and would ultimately become the moniker for hotdogs. In The Know reports, hotdogs are given the nickname glizzy because of their barbecue staple length, similar to “the extended clip of a gun.”
From that point on, the phrase glizzy has been used everywhere, including TikTok. Millions of individuals on the social media platform have participated in several trends, including the glizzy challenge. Although details surrounding the premise vary and depend on the person partaking in the activities, the overall goal is to get an individual to consume hotdogs in any way or form.
One part of the trend involves TikTok users trying to see how many hot dogs they can virtually ingest with a timed game.
Another trend showcases many people pranking their friends and family by having them consume a hot dog. An instance occurred last July when social media user @chrisandmommakyra tricked his mother into almost swallowing a hot dog by placing it in an M&M’s container and lied about the goal that he was trying to achieve.
In the clip, the TikTok user claimed he was trying to see how many M&M candies the pair could fit into their mouth with their eyes closed. Later @chrisandmommakyra demonstrated how to game would be played, and when it was his mother’s turn, she received the shock of a lifetime.
A final part of the glizzy challenge features a handful of individuals trying to catch a hotdog in their mouths.
Since the creation of the phrase, glizzy won’t be slowing down anytime soon, thanks to the new trends and challenges that are becoming popular daily.
