‘What is she doing??’: Elderly woman shows up to Target as staff are closing, resorts to begging on hands and knees for them to let her in

The Target employee just wanted to shut up shop and go home.

Retail work can be draining, especially when dealing with nightmare customers who seem to exist purely to make life harder. A Target worker on TikTok found herself dealing with such a customer as she tried to shut up shop for the night, only for the elderly woman outside to resort to some rather bizarre tactics in a bid to be let in.

The clip, which is going viral on TikTok, was posted by Lily Vert, a Target employee who was having the closing shift from hell thanks to one elderly customer. In the clip the woman can be seen kneeling outside the partially closed door with her head pushed between the two doors preventing Lily from shutting them.

An impatient and tired sounding Lily can be heard saying, “I cannot, you gotta go ma’am. You can come back tomorrow.” The woman simply shakes her head and tells Lily “I’ll do whatever you ask.”

We’ve likely all seen entitled people like this in the real world, they’re often called “Karens” but this seems slightly different. The woman’s behavior is strange and a lot more concerning compared to your typical Karen. It makes you wonder what this woman could possibly need so badly from Target that she’s literally on her knees pleading with the likely overworked and tired staff.

Target staff are aware of the elderly woman

It turns out that this isn’t a one-off either as Lily explains that “management has told her and she doesn’t want to stop.” From the sounds of it the old woman makes a habit of showing up when employees are trying to close but there is not a lot they can do about it, “all we can do is deny service.”

One comment from another person who seemingly works at the same Target gave an update claiming the woman was there again when they tried to close up. According to the commenter, the woman “literally assaulted [me] grabbing my neck and trying to kiss me.” It’s certainly concerning that this woman isn’t afraid to get physical, if she keeps going like this she might end up being arrested which would no doubt come as a relief to these Target workers.

Thankfully, in Lily’s case things didn’t get to that level as the woman eventually stands up once Lily explains that she cannot let her in because of “the rules.” Somehow this works and the woman promptly turns around and walks back to her car like she wasn’t on the ground begging to be let in literally five seconds before.
