TikToker Kayla is currently on a quest for justice that has captivated 6.5 million viewers. In a post on TikTok, she explained that not long ago, she left her purse, like a “dumbass,” at an urgent care facility in Tennessee. Then, the person who found it allegedly went on a shopping spree instead of returning the property. Kayla found herself facing $2,000 of credit card charges.
According to Kayla, the suspect racked up those charges in an hour, and thanks to police records, she knows everything they bought. Their first stop, she claimed, was a smoke shop to buy $400 of Kratom. User Ciera noted in the comments, “Kratom is like a ground-up root that you can mix with water or any liquid and it essentially makes you really happy for a while and sometimes extremely hyper focused.”
Kayla then noted that the suspect moved on to Target and Walgreens, “They bought Starbucks Creamer. A happy birthday card. You know what? I wonder how old they’re turning. Wish them happy birthday from jail next year.” She said that they also bought an Ulta gift card and “a bunch of, just like, junk food.” Kayla said that she went to the police the next day, ended up with a police officer who’s “the f–king best,” and within two hours was looking at CCTV footage.
Kayla was floored when she got a look at the suspect
“I’m so excited to show up in court, look this woman in the eyes, cause my, this woman is literally in her 40s. Like, she knows better. I fully expected it to be like, younger kids.” Kayla remarked. It is a little fact that caught many people off guard. User olivesarenasty commented, “40!!!???? I also wouldve thought they were also 19-22.”
As Kayla sees it, this crime is now a felony, not only because of the amount spent but also because her purse itself was valued at $1,000. Additionally, because the cards were used in two different counties, she believes the suspect will face charges in both, meaning Kayla will be subpoenaed to testify in two separate court cases. She also noted that the warrants were being prepared.
While Kayla is handling this with a mix of humor and frustration, credit card fraud is a serious issue. According to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, credit and debit card fraud involves the unauthorized use of someone else’s card or information to make purchases. This can happen through physical theft, as in Kayla’s case, or through methods like card skimming, mail fraud, or even account takeovers.
The agency advises everyone to monitor their financial accounts regularly, set up transaction alerts, and report lost or stolen cards immediately to their issuer. They note that if you find yourself in a similar position, it is vital to contact your bank, place a fraud alert on your credit reports through agencies like Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion, and file a report with local law enforcement immediately.
Interestingly, Kayla seemed particularly bothered by seeing photos of the woman using her Amex card. She said, “There’s a picture of her at the smoke shop holding it, like, in between her hands, like. I know damn well she dropped that shit on the floor on purpose just to, like, flex.”
The comments on her video have been a mix of support and humor. User Steph told her, “Kayla I bloody love you, please never stop being iconic😭😭😭,” while others like 4getmee suggested, “Let’s stop going to Tennessee girl😭😭.” When one commenter, Cierra W, suggested “girl that’s not robbery 😭,” Kayla jokingly replied, “well i’m dramatic.”
With warrants on the way and a court date looming, Kayla is ready to see this through to the end. As she told her followers, “I can’t wait to see you in f–king court. Have fun with those warrants. Hahaha. Don’t get pulled over. Hahaha.” Although it should be noted that all we have is Kayla’s version of events, with no confirmation from police records or the suspects’ perspective to verify the validity of her claims.
Fraud is distressingly common. Recently, reports told of an elderly Florida couple who received a phone call telling them they won a $4 million jackpot, pending tax payments. It led them to lose their life savings. Another Florida woman bought a house, only to realize it came with a squatter after a credit card went missing.
