A woman attending a World Cup soccer tournament in Georgia has shared a video on TikTok that she claims shows security guards pulling Egyptian fans out of the general security line and directing them into a separate screening area. The video was posted by Anastasia (@anastasia_cooi) and has drawn significant attention online, with many viewers weighing in on what they believe they saw.
In the clip, Anastasia said she watched as guards appeared to single out Egyptian attendees at the security checkpoint, directing them into a separate line where they were given a more hands-on body scan using a metal detector.
According to Anastasia, this treatment seemed to be applied mostly to Egyptian fans rather than to the broader crowd going through the same checkpoint. In her video, Anastasia is heard saying, “This is racism. I’m not even joking. This is called racism.”
Anastasia’s video shows Egyptian women being pulled aside at the security checkpoint
In the footage, an Egyptian woman is seen attempting to walk through security with only a fan in her hand when a guard pulls her aside. Shortly after, a second Egyptian woman is also redirected into the same separate line. A guard then appeared to scan the first woman from head to toe.
Anastasia appeared to find the situation troubling, suggesting in her video that Egyptian attendees were being treated differently from others at the same checkpoint. She did not provide information about the specific security policy in place at the venue, and it is not clear from the video alone what criteria the guards were using to select individuals for additional screening.
In the caption of her post, Anastasia also claimed she witnessed other incidents involving Egyptian attendees at the tournament. She said that people threw water on Egyptian fans “after every goal” while the team was playing soccer during the event. Anastasia wrote, “Why do I watch my family get mocked and thrown at? This is disgraceful, especially in America.” These additional claims were not captured in the video itself and are based solely on what Anastasia stated in her caption.
The video drew a wide range of reactions in the comments section. One commenter wrote, “I’m actually so mad.” Another user replied to her comment, suggesting that security appeared to overlook misconduct by other fan groups, writing, “They won’t do a thing about Argentinian fans ACTUALLY doing things tho,” and attaching what appeared to be a news headline alleging that an Argentina fan had directed a racial slur at a popular content creator at a World Cup match.
Other commenters expressed sympathy toward the Egyptian fans who were allegedly subjected to the separate screening. The user wrote, “I’m so sorry Egypt Fans you all went through that.” Another user similarly wrote, “I’m sorry yall went thru that!!”
One commenter wrote, “This is actually absurd. FIFA is a joke at this point,” appearing to blame the sport’s governing body for the reported treatment. Another person commented, “Dude, this also happened to me when I went,” suggesting they may have had a similar experience. Other commenters called the alleged treatment “horrible and embarrassing.” In another case, a TikTok creator called out FIFA over World Cup ticket prices jumping from 60 to 167.
Neither the security company involved, FIFA, nor any Georgia venue officials have publicly responded to the claims made in Anastasia’s video, as of this writing. It is not known whether an investigation into the alleged conduct has been opened or whether the venue had any official policy that could explain the separate screening line. A similar dispute involved allegations that Donald Trump personally pressured FIFA to overturn a match ban decision.
