Woman given ticket for ‘driving with a device in her right hand’ but she has strong alibi: she doesn’t have a right hand

That's a pretty airtight defense if you ask me.

People will give any excuse to get out of a traffic violation ticket but most of the time they have little evidence to prove that they are innocent. However, one woman on TikTok, who was accused of driving with a phone in her right hand, has irrefutable proof that she couldn’t have committed the violation. That’s because… she doesn’t have a right hand.

TikToker, “Slightlyoff.balance,” told viewers, “turns out you can still get a ticket for driving with a device in your right hand even if you don’t have a right hand.” She then shows the camera her right hand, or lack thereof, as it is clear that her appendage was either amputated years ago or she was born without it.

The woman shows footage of the police officer telling her she cannot operate a device while driving a vehicle. While some may try to flirt their way out of a ticket, she has a valid defense, she claims he told her he saw her using the device with her right hand and asks the officer if he’s written in the citation that he said that. While the officer tries to avoid repeating his alleged initial claim, he does eventually admit, on camera, that that is what he said.

Obviously, it would be almost impossible for the woman to hold a phone on her right side when she doesn’t have a hand, and she even gives a live demonstration to show how ridiculous the claim was, dropping the phone into her non-existent right hand and letting it drop to the floor. In the caption, she jokes, “low key thought I had two hands for a minute.”

How’s the court case going?

As of writing, there is no resolution to the story. Slightlyoff.balance did come back with an update video in which she told viewers on TikTok that she had a date for her court hearing and promised to keep everyone updated on her progress. She also requested the bodycam footage from the officer as she claims “there’s some additional things that aren’t in my video that I think you guys would enjoy.”

Viewers chimed in with advice on strengthening her case, “Brady list.” wrote one person, “Tell them you want him placed on the Brady list.” Another wrote, “please sue,” while a third predicted “This case will be dropped before it ever makes it to trial.”

However it plays out, the woman has a strong case that the officer was likely mistaken with regards to what he claimed he saw, getting the interaction on video was also a smart move.
