Woman records elderly neighbor’s creepy behavior but TikTok can’t decide if the man is lonely or a genuine threat

Disputes with neighbors are never fun, especially when said neighbor makes you feel unsafe in your own home. We’ve seen plenty such cases on TikTok but a viral video featuring a compilation of weird behavior from one woman’s neighbor has sparked a conversation over whether the old man in the video is harmless or a real threat.

The video, which has over 10 million views on TikTok, was posted by “pastaluver4ever,” AKA Olivia shows doorbell camera footage of the old man loitering outside of her front door. He can be seen taking her parcels and mumbling to himself. We also see the man purposefully open his front door as Olivia is coming up the stairs, something she claims is an intentional move to block her path.

His harassment seems constant as he knocks on Olivia’s door, talks about her with a friend within earshot of the camera, and even waits at the top of the stairs to ask her if she knows his name. While he doesn’t necessarily say or do anything threatening, it does seem like harassment. Despite it all, Olivia does her best to ignore his odd behavior.

Of course, it’s difficult to ignore such behavior when the person doing it is waiting outside your front door on an almost daily basis.

TikTok aren’t sure if the man is harmless or not

Commenters on TikTok were on the fence over whether or not the man should be taken as a threat. “I honestly can’t decide if this behavior is a cause for concern or just harmless, loneliness,” wrote one commenter. “He’s just a grandpa trying to be friendly and look out for you,” added another. A third person suggested it could possibly the early stages of Alzheimer’s causing his strange behavior.

However, not everyone was in agreement that the man was simply lonely. One person advised Olivia “please file a report or make a complaint to management!” telling her that she has enough evidence against him. “You need to tell him to leave you alone. Don’t be nice,” suggested another. While the old man may be lonely, it’s not Olivia’s responsibility, and it certainly doesn’t excuse him going through her mail or making her feel unsafe.

In a second video Olivia explains that the old man actually moved in after finding out she lived there. Apparently, after she moved in he spoke with her and made inappropriate remarks about her looks, later on he moved into the apartment next door and things only got weirder. This additional information firmly puts the old guy in creep territory.

We’ve seen too many cases of women having to deal with inappropriate behavior from male neighbors so it’s no surprise that Olivia wants nothing to do with him. According to the caption, she did contact the police but nothing could be done about it. Thankfully added that she was moving out of the area soon so hopefully she won’t have to put up with the behavior of any weird neighbors at her future address.
