A soon to be married couple are going viral on TikTok for all the wrong reasons and everyone on social media from armchair psychologists to real psychologists are analyzing their relationship and stating why they think it’s doomed to fail.
The woman, who goes by the name Phoenix, has since deleted her account after posting her engagement announcement and receiving a tidal wave of negative backlash. While people on TikTok are usually pretty supportive, this case is a rather unique one. You see, the problem is that Phoenix’s fiancé is a criminal, and a pretty terrifying one at that.
Her fiancé’s name is Blaec Lammers, and if you Google his name you’ll find more than a few news articles that detail his crimes. Lammers was convicted of first-degree assault and armed criminal action after his parents reported him to police for purchasing guns as per CNN. He was accused of plotting a theater shooting similar to the Aurora theater shooting in Colorado back in 2012.
While Lammers was foiled before he could do anything, him being sentenced for just planning it is understandable, the issue of mass shootings need to be taken seriously, even if the individual does not get the chance to commit the actual crime.
TikTok don’t think Blaec Lammers has changed
Lammers spent 13 years in prison and five months after being released he was engaged to Phoenix. With this information it’s no wonder people on TikTok were critical of their relationship. One creator, Amy Santoro, drew attention to the fact that Blaec seemed to be interested in him and his fiancée getting on the TikTok creator program. He even had plans to start a podcast.
Many don’t think the couple should be able to monetize their content given the nature of Blaec’s crime. Amy called it a “grift” and stated that Lammers hasn’t shown remorse for his crime, maintaining that he did nothing wrong.
Some do believe, including Blaec’s own mother, that his only crime was that he was mentally ill. The argument was that he didn’t actually shoot or hurt anyone.
Of course, not many people are buying that and another person on TikTok, Lee Hammock, attributed Lammers’ lack of remorse to supposed narcissism. Like Amy, Lee also pointed to Lammers’ lack of accountability for what he did wrong, when speaking about his conviction he says he “supposedly” went to prison for a violent crime.
Whatever the case, something about the dynamic of this whole relationship just smells off to the people of TikTok but it seems Phoenix won’t hear any of it. Many of the posts made by her were fawning over him and before the account disappeared she even made it a joint account with him which Amy suspected was so he could get some of the revenue if they had monetized the account.
