‘You have no idea what I’ve been through’: Florida Woman who lost 100 pounds says she was mocked by teens at an ice cream shop

A stop for ice cream after a family dinner didn’t go the way Olivia expected.

The TikTok creator says she was at Twistee Treat in St. Pete Beach in Florida, with her cousins when things went sideways, and she filmed herself talking about it soon after. “I was fat-shamed and laughed at by teenage girls at an ice cream shop tonight, and it has ruined my day,” she says early on.

The night had started off fine. Her aunt paid for dinner for everyone, and afterward she figured she’d take her cousins out for ice cream too, since they don’t visit often. “Seeing them is really special to me,” she explains. A group of girls stood behind her in line, ones she pegged as “probably seniors in high school, freshman in college.”

Olivia says she chose to speak up

She’d ordered a big milkshake-style drink called a typhoon and turned to her cousin, saying she doubted she’d finish it. That’s when one of the girls behind her chimed in. “Yeah, you can,” she says she heard, followed by laughter from the girl’s friends.

Olivia didn’t say anything at first. She moved toward the other pickup window, like staff had told her to, and stood there replaying what she’d just heard. A few seconds later she turned around. “Did you really just say that?” she asked.

What came back was a rush of denial. The girl responded, “What, me? No, I didn’t say that. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry that you think you heard that,” repeating the apology again and again.

She kept it short in the moment. “You should be a lot kinder to people. That’s not cool,” she told the girl, then left with her cousins. Looking back, though, she says she wishes she’d said more. “You have no clue who I am. You have no clue what I’ve been through in my life,” thinking about what she’d go back and tell her if she could.

Part of that, she explains, comes down to her own history with weight. Olivia has lost more than 100 pounds, but she says that hasn’t made things easier. “I still struggle with food and with stuff like that all the time,” she admits. The weight may have come off, but the complicated feelings around it haven’t necessarily gone with it.

Several commenters sided with her. “No one gets their a$$ beat anymore that’s why girls feel to comfy being mean. Don’t let that get you down! You’re beautiful!” one person wrote.

Another just sounded tired of it: “Why are teens so mean to strangers all the time.” A third praised how she handled it: “You don’t deserve this. You handled everything with such grace!!”

Comments about weight can stick around long after the person who made them has forgotten about them. For some people, those comments bring back feelings they’ve been carrying for years. That seems to be what happened here, with Olivia still processing the exchange hours later.

She ends the video talking straight to the girls. “I don’t wanna be fat. And I’m sure no other fat person does,” she says.
