It had to happen eventually. The media whoring, please look at me, former Packer, former Jet, former Viking, former gun-slinging NFL quarterback Brett Favre has finally joined Twitter. Or has he…
Earlier today the account @BrettFavre4 sent out the following tweet;
Hello friends, family, and fans. This is my official account I finally found the time to join twitter.
That account is following ESPN, Sportscenter, NFL, and Packers wide receiver Donald Driver. It seems legit enough. The entire Twitterverse started tweeting about it.
The Fake ESPN had this gem – @TheFakeESPN ~ Twitter won’t give @BrettFavre4 verified status until he can provide photographic evidence.
CaptainTouchback asked – @CaptTouchback ~ Why is @brettfavre4 not following @jennifersterger yet?
Da Meatball Kid wanted to know – @Da_Meatball_Kid ~ What are da odds his first Twitpic is from below the waist?
But not so fast. It seems we have dueling Twitter accounts, as ESPN’s Sportscenter tweeted the following:
Here is the official Brett Favre Twitter handle: @Favre4Official
That account is following 5 others, ESPN College Football, ESPN personality Erin Andrews, former Packer Desmond Howard, ESPN, and a company handle called Amplify Social, which is “Amplifying the power of social & mobile for brand impact!”, that sounds like something Favre would attach himself to.
The tweets are flowing about that account as well.
Rob Brown tweeted this nugget – @RLBrown3 ~ So @Favre4Official is now on twitter. I bet he quits it by Tuesday. Then starts up again on Thursday.
Mike Bischoff had this to tweet – @mpbMKE ~ Percent chance that Brett Favre has any kind of direct interaction with @Favre4Official: Zero.
So which is his “real” Twitter handle? It was looking like the later had the edge, but now tweets are flying to the contrary. You know, I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t concoct the duel handles just for the hype. There is one thing for certain however, fans may have grown tired of his ‘will he or won’t he play again’ pandering to the media year after year, but no one has grown tired of cracking jokes at his expense. Welcome back Brett!!!
