Ottawa Senators Trade Forward Mike Fisher To The Nashville Predators

The happiest season for a sports fan seems to have started early this year, with yesterday’s trade between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Ontario’s other team has now decided to get in on the action. The Ottawa Senators have traded forward Mike Fisher to the Nashville Predators for a 1st round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and a conditional pick in the 2012 Entry Draft that could be as high as a second rounder.

Nashville GM David Polie was looking for a top six forward, and felt his proven ability in the post season made this move a no brainer. “Mike’s playoff experience will be invaluable to our team and he immediately makes our team stronger and deeper,” Poile said.

Though he has struggled this year, he is a solid two way player that was drafted 44th overall in the 1998 Entry Draft by the Senators and should be a big help for the Predators in their push for the playoffs. No doubt that this move will also be a big hit with Fisher’s wife, country music superstar Carrie Underwood, who does live and work in “Music City” USA.

It looks like that as we get closer and closer to the trading deadline on Monday February 28th, that the teams of the great province of Ontario will be sellers and not buyers.

May the wheeling and dealing continue!
