Description: To say that the Resident Evil series has lost its way in recent years may read as something of an understatement, but perhaps more than anything, the oncoming Resident Evil 7 represents a chance for Capcom’s horror flagship to circle back to its dark, putrid roots. Initially paraded in front of the industry as the Kitchen VR demo, a nerve-shredding horror experience built on the same engine as RE7, Capcom later revealed its vertical slice to be an appetizer for Resident Evil 7 at E3 2016, and even allowed wanting fans to take a peek into the studio’s 2017 sequel via the Beginning Hour demo. In a genre that recently mourned the loss of Silent Hills - and with it the excellent P.T. - Resident Evil 7 is exactly the breed of AAA horror that fans so crave. Will it live up to expectations? We’ll find out on January 24th.
