23yo Philadelphia woman goes missing – the assault of another woman months ago led to the arrest of 21yo suspect

It’s been an entire week since Philadelphia woman Kada Scott, 23, went missing, and now police believe a “pattern of behavior” has revealed a main suspect.

Keon King, 21, was arrested on the night of Oct. 14 after his phone was found to have been in use during Scott’s disappearance. But there was an additional charge that made police even more suspicious of King. Reportedly, he had also been implicated in an earlier altercation that involved a form of abduction.

Earlier this year, King drove to a house where a woman he knew lived. He allegedly kidnapped and strangled the woman while she was in a car, later releasing her. The situation was believed to be domestic in nature, with a strong case against King. However, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office was forced to drop the case when the main witness failed to appear in court. Regardless, the case set a precedent and a reputation for King. Philadelphia’s legal authorities are already facing doubts about how seriously they take the safety of women, but this time they’re clearly pulling out all stops to ensure justice is served.

Meanwhile, authorities are continuing their search for Scott. According to CNN, Scott’s father, Kevin Scott, has taken charge by asking anyone with any information to come forward. He said, “You never know what little, small, minuscule information may apply to the big picture — the puzzle that might get Kada home.”

For instance, police asked the public to help look for a 1999 gold Toyota Camry linked to King. Within the same day, they received a tip that the car was parked at a specific apartment complex. Authorities believe the vehicle could be connected to Scott’s disappearance and are currently awaiting a warrant before conducting a search. Yet, the authorities still believe that Scott is missing but alive. Philadelphia Police First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford said, “We are still treating this as if Ms. Scott is still alive, and that’s why we want the public’s help in trying to locate every single piece of this.”

Currently, all police know is that on the day of Scott’s disappearance, she left her car at work and later communicated with King. After that, the two met physically — something investigators have evidence of. They still don’t know the nature of their relationship, but as they continue to interrogate King, answers are expected to surface.

Another aspect of this case that only leads to more questions is that police received a tip that some of Scott’s belongings were found at an abandoned school. Investigators say this is ample proof that Scott’s case is a genuine missing person situation — but there are no real answers beyond that.
