On Feb. 22, 2023, Jeffrey Epstein‘s brother, Mark Epstein, submitted an FBI tip stating his brother had been murdered, according to newly declassified government files.
According to the document, Mark wrote, “Jeffrey Epstein was murdered in his jail cell. I have reason to believe he was killed because he was about to name names.” Mark went on to say he believed Trump authorized the attack.
Jeffrey died on Aug. 10, 2019, at Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center, awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in what was officially ruled a suicide. Since then, Mark has repeatedly spoken out about his belief that his brother was killed.
The declassified document also stated, “I am a Threat Intake Examiner (TIE) at the FBI National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) Unit, where we receive information from the public regarding criminal activity and threats to national security. The following information is being forwarded for your situational awareness and any action deemed appropriate.”

News of Epstein’s tip comes around the same time Mark told Don Lemon he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Trump, then serving his first term, could authorize his brother’s death. Around that same time, Mark hung up on Piers Morgan during an interview after Morgan asked if he cared about his brother’s victims. Mark stated he only discusses the death of his brother and does not comment on the crimes.
On Feb. 26, 2026, Mark appeared on Al Arabiya English and continued to emphasize that his brother’s death remains one of the most troubling and suspicious cases he has ever encountered. He described the inconsistencies in the official reports, highlighting what he sees as systematic failures and potential cover-ups.
Mark noted that the destruction of the crime scene, removal of Jeffrey’s body from the cell against protocol, and manipulation of video evidence all raise significant concerns. According to Mark, these actions prevent a thorough and unbiased investigation, leaving too many questions unanswered.
He also underscored the disparity between the assessments of the pathologists present at the autopsy and the later statements of the chief medical examiner. The two pathologists, Dr. Kristen Roman and Dr. Michael Baden, reportedly observed evidence pointing toward homicide, yet these observations were later overshadowed by a suicide ruling from officials who did not examine the body firsthand.
Mark argued that this discrepancy alone should prompt a renewed, fully independent investigation, as it undermines public trust in the official conclusions.
Mark additionally addressed the broader implications of his brother’s alleged “dirt” on influential figures. While he refrained from speculating on specific parties responsible for Jeffrey’s death, he repeatedly stressed that the individuals capable of orchestrating such a sophisticated operation must occupy positions of considerable power.
