Alabama law enforcement cadet busted with explicit child abuse content, some showed him in uniform

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested a former corrections officer with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office on September 9, 2025.

The former corrections officer, Christopher Thomason, 42, faces 11 felony counts, including possession of explicit child abuse content and solicitation of a child. Thomason allegedly used Snapchat to send explicit images and videos to underage girls and requested similar content in return. Reports say some of the content featured Thomason in uniform.

Thomason: “Fat and not very tall,” one victim said

According to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey, “The girl denied knowing Chris’ last name but described him as bald with a ‘lump on his head.’ Fat and not very tall.” Casey added, “There had been 162 photographs that had been sent to various users on that platform. Of those, 113 depicted Thomason wearing his sheriff’s office uniform.”

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office employed Thomason since August 2024. At the time of his arrest, he actively attended the Alabama Police Officers Standard Training Academy. He had previously served as a corrections officer, reserve deputy, and K-9 handler within the department.

According to investigators, Thomason sent over 100 photos of himself in uniform to at least three minors, including a 12-year-old girl from Alabama. He allegedly attempted to meet one of the minors at a high school football game in Walker County, though the meeting did not occur.

Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon expressed deep disappointment over Thomason’s arrest, saying the alleged conduct betrayed the department’s core values of trust and integrity. Thomason’s employer terminated him immediately, and the sheriff’s office pledged full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.

According to AL.com, Blount County DA Casey emphasized the importance of parental vigilance in monitoring children’s online activities, noting that predators can exploit digital platforms to target minors. She encouraged parents to be proactive in safeguarding their children’s online interactions.

Thomason’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 1, 2025. The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
