Now we understand his concern!

Authorities have charged a 25-year-old Palmetto, Georgia, Bojangles restaurant manager, Maurice Nolan Evans, with murder after allegedly shooting and killing Dominique Goodman, the 43-year-old father of a teenage employee, following a confrontation in the restaurant’s parking lot.

According to police and local news reports, the fatal shooting occurred around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Bojangles location on Roosevelt Highway in Palmetto, an Atlanta suburb.

According to Atlanta news outlet 11Alive, authorities say the conflict began after Goodman’s daughter, who works at the restaurant, called her father about a dispute with Evans, her shift manager.

Gunfire erupted when Goodman arrived

Family members claim that Goodman had gone there to check on his daughter’s well-being, but Evans confronted him in the parking lot. The altercation ended when Evans opened fire, fatally wounding Goodman. Evans admitted to law enforcement at the scene that he shot Goodman, according to the arrest warrant. He has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Goodman’s family described him as a devoted father and hardworking man. A former colleague from his job at a local Honda dealership told Atlanta News First that Goodman was a “top salesman” and had his life “moving in the right direction.”

“She lost everything”

The family and local community are expressing shock and grief over how quickly what started as workplace concerns devolved into deadly violence. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Marlene Lately, who knew Goodman, said he did what any parent would do if their child were in trouble.

“They coming up there to see what’s going on, and I guess that’s what he did,” Lately said. “I feel like she lost everything, her father, you know, she will never get him back. That’s sad, and that man should’ve thought before he made that decision.”

After Goodman died, Bojangles said in a statement, “We are aware of the tragic incident that occurred earlier today at a franchised restaurant location in Palmetto, Georgia. Our hearts go out to the victim and all those impacted by this senseless act.”

The fast food chain said the safety of its guests and team members is always its top priority. “The franchisee is fully cooperating with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.”

The statement added. “We strongly condemn all acts of violence. Out of respect for everyone involved and the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we will defer further details to the police.”

After police booked Evans into the Fulton County Jail, he waived his first court appearance and is currently held without bond, according to jail records.
