Georgia man caught in a disturbing cover-up after his girlfriend’s 6-year-old daughter is found severely malnourished. Then the truth came out in court

A tragic case involving extreme child neglect, starvation, and a staged crime scene has ended in a Hinesville, Georgia, courtroom. Brandon Robinson, a 40-year-old truck driver, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Sept. 28, 2026, for his role in the death of his girlfriend’s six-year-old daughter, A’Niyah Perry.

According to Court TV, Robinson avoided a trial by accepting a plea agreement with state prosecutors. In exchange for dropping charges including malice murder, felony murder, and cruelty to children, Robinson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and making false statements.

The judge sentenced him to 30 years, with 20 years to be served in prison followed by 10 years of probation.

The child’s “sketal structure” was visble through her skin

During the proceedings, law enforcement testimony revealed just how severely A’Niyah’s condition had deteriorated before her death. Hinesville Detective Jonathan Santiago described the difference between the child’s appearance months before her death and the condition in which she was eventually found.

A’Niyah’s biological father had given investigators a photograph from December 2022 showing a healthy child with what Santiago described as “healthy, thick, chunky cheeks.”

By May 2023, however, she looked completely different. Santiago testified that when he first examined A’Niyah, she was so “severely malnourished” that her “skeletal structure can be seen through her skin.”

The investigation began on May 1, 2023, when emergency personnel responded to a home in Hinesville belonging to A’Niyah’s mother, Sherry Perry. Perry initially told police that she had put her daughter to bed at around 4:30 p.m. and found her unconscious and not breathing about four hours later.

Surveillance footage obtained by detectives quickly raised questions about that account. The video showed Robinson and Perry arriving at the home only hours before the emergency call. More importantly, investigators said the footage showed the couple carrying A’Niyah’s body into the house. She was already wrapped in a blue blanket.

Confronted with the evidence, Perry admitted that the scene had been staged. Detective Santiago told the court that A’Niyah had actually died in another state while the family was traveling.

Robinson, Perry, and Perry’s two other children, who were four years old and eight months old at the time, had spent more than a month living in Robinson’s commercial truck.

After A’Niyah died, the couple allegedly drove her body back to Hinesville and staged the scene in an attempt to make it appear that she had died at the home.

Her death was partly due to medical neglect

A’Niyah also had serious underlying medical conditions, including cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia. However, authorities said medical neglect contributed to her death. Perry told investigators that her daughter had been visibly ill for two weeks before she died, but she did not seek medical treatment. Instead, she reportedly continued feeding the child milk and pureed food.

Perry previously pleaded guilty to all of the charges against her except malice murder and was sentenced to life in prison.

Her case is not completely over, however. Perry recently submitted a handwritten motion asking to withdraw her guilty plea, claiming that she had been “abandoned” without defense counsel.

A judge has scheduled a hearing for Oct. 26 to consider her request.
