Group of men walk into a New Jersey Chick-fil-A for dinner, go horrifyingly off menu with ‘act of violence’

Fried chicken served with a side of unimaginable horror.

A fatal shooting occurred at a Chick-fil-A on Route 22 in Union Township, New Jersey, leaving one person dead and six others injured. According to a Newsweek report, the incident took place on Saturday, April 11, shortly before 9:00 PM, triggering a massive emergency response.

The Union County prosecutor’s office confirmed that officers arrived at the scene to find seven victims in total. One individual was pronounced dead at the restaurant, while the other six victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. While this is an active and ongoing investigation, officials have stated that the preliminary findings suggest this was not a random act of violence. Authorities also noted that there is no immediate ongoing threat to the public.

Witness accounts paint a chaotic picture of the event. According to reports, several masked suspects forced their way into the busy restaurant and moved directly behind the counter.

Emotions remain high

A man whose girlfriend works at the location mentioned that she described the group of men entering the premises and immediately opening fire. Another witness, the father of an employee, described the scene inside the restaurant as a war zone and noted that multiple staff members were among those injured.

A local living a block away reported hearing a ruckus and the sound of sirens for hours following the attack. A Lyft driver who was near the scene shared that they heard shots very close by just as they arrived to pick up food. The restaurant was placed under lockdown during the incident, and police secured the area as the emergency response unfolded.

The Union County prosecutor’s office is currently leading the investigation. Spokesperson Lauren Farinas stated that the office is working through an active investigation and will release more information as it becomes available. At this time, no arrests have been made, and officials are working to determine the specific circumstances that led to the shooting.

Authorities are asking the community to remain vigilant and provide any relevant information to the Union County Homicide Task Force. The Union County Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $10,000 for tips that result in an indictment and conviction.

This is the second notable mass shooting in the past few months. Austin saw a shooting at a popular bar on March first that led to the deaths of three people, including the shooter. A witness in that situation tried to flee into a bathroom, but the bartender did not let him stay. In both this and the Chick-fil-A situation, we do not know the motive for the attack yet.

Additionally, as we see an increasing number of shootings across the country, the speed and strength of the police’s response are becoming important. Which is why FBI Director Kash Patel received a crazy amount of criticism. The reason: he mobilized the FBI jet for personal reasons, leaving agents to respond to a mass shooting with a long drive.
