A 59-year-old Illinois dad disappeared in November 2025, and a series of clues has left his family concerned he suffered a medical emergency. Even still, a Silver Alert — issued when older individuals go missing — and an extensive search by friends, family, volunteers, and the authorities has turned up nothing.
On November 24, 2025, the missing man, Daniel “Dan” Davis, was involved in a traffic crash in unincorporated Alsip, southwest of Chicago. Cook County Sheriff’s Office body camera footage shows deputies speaking with Davis at the scene of the wreck shortly after 11 p.m. Despite appearing disoriented and unsteady on his feet, Davis declined medical treatment. His vehicle was damaged and later towed.
The body cam and home security footage
According to Chicago news outlet WLS, with no working car, a sheriff’s deputy gave Davis a ride to 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, a well-known country music venue where he worked. Surveillance footage shows Davis entering the building and later leaving on foot around 1:15 a.m. on November 25.
Later that morning and into the next day, multiple residential security cameras captured Davis walking through neighborhoods in nearby Blue Island. In the videos, he appears confused, wandering through yards, cutting between homes, and with an unsteady gait.
The last confirmed sighting of Davis occurred around 6:30 p.m. on November 26, when he was recorded on camera near St. Donatus Church in Blue Island. No verified video, phone activity, or financial transactions linked to Davis have been reported since.
When they checked Dan’s apartment after he went missing, they found the windows and the refrigerator left open, which was uncharacteristic and suggested he had left in a state of confusion.
The search continues
Since then, the Illinois State Police have issued a Silver Alert. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies, search-and-rescue teams, and volunteers have canvassed neighborhoods, forest preserves, rail yards, and waterways, including the Cal-Sag Channel in the area. Bloodhounds reportedly tracked Davis’ scent to a rail area before losing it.
Davis is a father, an Indiana University alumnus, and a lighting designer who worked at 115 Bourbon Street for over 25 years. Those close to him say he was familiar with the area, dependable, and had no history of disappearing without telling someone.
Davis’ daughter, Wendy Davis, has taken an active role in the search, frequently posting updates and surveillance clips on social media and urging the public to recheck security footage. She helps run the “Find Dan Davis” Facebook group, with thousands of members
Wendy and her family believe Davis may have suffered a medical episode, such as a head injury or neurological event, either before or during the crash, which could explain his confusion and refusal of care. They have said there is no indication he intended to disappear.
As of January 2026, Davis remains missing. The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact CPD or call 911 if they believe they may have seen him.
Davis was last seen wearing a red Indiana University hoodie (reportedly inside-out in some footage), a black Harley-Davidson jacket with white stripes, and black jeans. He is 5’7″ and approximately 140 lbs.
