Kentucky police arrested a substitute teacher from Cave City, Kentucky, on charges that she solicited a minor for sexual activity via electronic communication. Krystal Sims faces felony accusations following an investigation by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a citation obtained by local news outlet WBKO, the incident came to light after authorities received information that Sims, 30, had communicated with an underage male student to arrange a meeting and have sex. The student reported that he met Sims while she was substituting in his class and later connected with her on Snapchat.

The student alleged that on August 22, Sims invited him to meet in Cave City for a sexual encounter. He provided a recording of a phone call from that day in which a female voice asks if he would come to meet her. The conversation reportedly transitioned to a video call, during which Sims appeared in the shower, nude.

The student added that several people in the room at the time of the video conversation confirmed seeing her.

Sims’ explanation

During an interview with deputies, Sims admitted to being the woman in the recorded call but claimed she only agreed to meet with the student so he could apologize for his behavior in class. She stated that they never met in person and that nothing physical occurred between them.

Police arrested Sims on October 2 and charged her with unlawfully using electronic communication to solicit, procure, or promote a child for sexual activity. Authorities released Sims on a $25,000 cash bond. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison. The specific school where Sims worked as a substitute teacher has not been disclosed, and no further information has been provided by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.
