Man steals car and crashes through metro station. Then his escape plan hits an unexpected obstacle on the stairs

Bro really thought he was in GTA!

A man in Madrid took a car that wasn’t his and tried to get away by driving through a metro station. Things didn’t go as he planned. The 36-year-old ended up getting his vehicle stuck on the stairs, and firefighters had to spend hours getting it out.

According to India Times, the whole thing happened at Plaza Eliptica station. This station connects both metro trains and buses in the southern part of Madrid. The man found a Mazda in a nearby parking lot with the keys still inside. A worker had left them in the ignition, and the man took his chance.

When police showed up, the driver panicked and made a bad choice. He drove straight into the station by smashing through the glass doors at the bus entrance. He thought he could escape through the building, but his escape plan hit an unexpected obstacle when he reached the stairs. The car got completely jammed between the walls of the staircase and couldn’t move up or down.

Well, that definitely didn’t work out like he hoped

Getting the car out was no easy job. Firefighters came with special tools and ropes to pull the vehicle back up. They tied the ropes to the front and used a pulley system to drag it up the stairs bit by bit. The whole rescue took more than two hours because the car was wedged in so tight.

Medical workers checked on the driver right there at the scene. They then took him to October 12 Hospital to make sure he was okay. At the hospital, tests showed he had cocaine in his system. That might explain why he thought driving a car down metro stairs was a good idea.

Luckily, nobody got hurt during this mess. The station wasn’t crowded when the car came crashing through, so there were only a few people around. If it had been a busy time, things could have been much worse. Plaza Eliptica usually sees lots of passengers because it’s a major connection point.

Police arrested the driver after the doctors finished checking him. The car had already been reported as stolen before officers even got to the metro station. While accusations of car theft can sometimes be misguided, this was clearly the real deal. He’s facing several charges now, including stealing the vehicle, damaging property, and driving while on drugs.

The story spread quickly on social media and in Spanish news. Emergency workers posted pictures and videos of the stuck car, and people couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

The photos showed just how badly stuck the vehicle was, tilted at an angle with no room to move. Unlike other car theft incidents where quick thinking helped catch suspects, this thief’s poor judgment sealed his own fate. The whole situation proved that sometimes the worst enemy of a bad plan is a simple set of stairs.
