Olivia Clendenin, a 29-year-old dance instructor, has been sentenced to at least 16 years in prison after she shot an innocent bystander during a deranged New Year’s Day rampage in Warren County, Ohio. The whole ordeal kicked off at a New Year’s Eve party where Clendenin found herself in quite the predicament.
According to the NY Post, she raced over to the gathering when she heard that her husband was chatting it up with a man. Specifically, her boyfriend. This uncomfortable conversation led both men to realize, for the first time, that Clendenin was actually involved with both of them. When she couldn’t persuade her husband to leave the party, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Clendenin reportedly left the party, retrieved a .40 caliber gun, and then returned to the scene in her mom’s Jeep. While driving past the party, she fired a shocking eight shots into the crowd. This was a completely reckless and deranged action that put so many lives at risk. One of those bullets tragically struck Daniel Johnson, a 29-year-old partygoer who was simply sitting on the porch, minding his own business.
It’s an overreaction worthy of a telenovella
Johnson, who was neither Clendenin’s husband nor her boyfriend, later told the sentencing hearing that his life changed in that moment. He explained that he was an innocent bystander, caught in the crossfire by a bullet seemingly meant for someone else, and the repercussions have stayed with him ever since.
Clendenin was ultimately convicted of attempted murder, felonious assault, and illegal discharge of a firearm for her actions. The court handed down a sentence of 16 to 20 years in prison, which many would agree is a fitting consequence for such a dangerous outburst.
Horrifyingly, Clendenin showed an apparent lack of remorse throughout. Her mugshot famously showed her grinning. Additionally, during her trial, an audio recording of a call to her mother featured Clendenin complaining that she was the victim of charges that were “ruining a young girl’s life.”
Even at her sentencing, Clendenin addressed Johnson without offering a direct apology. She said, “I would just like to say that I care deeply about my family, my friends, my business and those who rely on me in this world.” She then continued, “To Daniel, I am very, very glad that he is well after a difficult time he has been through, and I truly hope that he has a great future and I wish him nothing but the best in his future.”
Stories of cheaters are always filled with drama. Recently, a woman recorded a crazy storytime where she talked about how she dropped her baby daddy after he cheated on her. However, if you are looking for a spot of non-violent but satisfying revenge, meet the woman who put her cheating husband in his place through apologies.
