Florida police arrested 52-year-old Florida woman Latrance Battle recently for allegedly impersonating a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent and kidnapping her ex-boyfriend’s wife.
According to reports from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, on April 10th, 2025, Battle went to a hotel where the woman worked. She was wearing a black shirt with “ICE” printed on it, showed a business card, and carried a hand-held radio to appear as a legitimate agent. The victim, who is reportedly in the process of becoming a legal U.S. resident, believed Battle and went with her.
Battle took the woman’s phone
During the car ride, Battle allegedly took the woman’s phone when she tried to contact her lawyer and husband. Instead of going to a sheriff’s office as Battle claimed, she drove the woman to an apartment complex and told her she had to “suffer the consequences of her husband’s actions.”
The victim managed to escape and, with the help of a neighbor, called the police. Florida authorities arrested the suspect the next day as she was allegedly trying to flee to Alabama. Battle reportedly told one of her neighbors, after her captive fled, she took her phone because “she knows what she did.”
Battle faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, robbery by sudden snatching, impersonating a law enforcement officer, and felony violation of probation. Meanwhile, the victim’s husband reportedly had a restraining order against Battle due to past issues. According to Battle’s arrest affidavit, viewed by Law & Crime, Battle allegedly “showed up to his place of business and attacked him.”
Battle is currently held on a $25,000 bond. She is expected in court on May 29.

There have been multiple incidents across the United States where individuals have impersonated U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, amid Trump administration rhetoric to crack down on immigration.
In February 2025, a North Dakota man posed as an ICE officer to have jail staff release an inmate to him. Prison officials uncovered the deception when the real ICE agent arrived shortly after.
That same month, Philadelphia police arrested a Temple University student after he allegedly impersonated an ICE agent on campus. Along with two others, he attempted to enter a residence hall wearing shirts labeled “Police” and “ICE.”
In Fresno, California, in February, California police also apprehended two men for impersonating ICE officers and harassing shoppers at multiple businesses. They wore tactical vests labeled “Police” and “ICE” and filmed their actions for social media.
