Search continues for Kansas City woman who vanished in the dead of night amid reports she was in an abusive relationship

Her ex denies he's involved.

Kansas City police have renewed their search for a woman who disappeared between 2:30 am and 3:00 a.m. in March 2025, and now, the internet is wondering why more people aren’t talking about the case.

According to reports, Mariah Cockshell, 26, was last seen around 3:00 a.m. on March 22, 2025, at a gas station near 54th Street and Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. At the time, she was wearing a pink sweatshirt and black scrub pants. She is 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs approximately 150 pounds, has black hair, and hazel eyes

Since she vanished, theories that Cockshell was in an abusive relationship before her disappearance have emerged on social media. One post indicates that she was attempting to retrieve her belongings from her ex-partner’s residence on the night she went missing.

Cockshell’s ex-boyfriend, however, has denied any involvement in her disappearance. He claims that Mariah never arrived at his house to collect her things.

“Why isn’t anyone talking about Mariah Cockshell?”

Since her disappearance, law enforcement agencies, including the Gladstone Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, have been actively investigating her case or spreading the word for people to be on the lookout for the missing woman. Despite their efforts, there have been few leads or tips from the public.

In August 2025, approaching the six-month anniversary of her disappearance, the Gladstone Police Department renewed its appeal to the public for information. They urged anyone with knowledge of Mariah’s whereabouts or circumstances to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

For now, Cockshell remains missing, but some close to the case have grown frustrated with the police response. “I didnt know her personally but I have alot of friends and family who went to school with her,” one comment said. “I dont understand why we arent pressing the police for answers and if they are why its not being shared.”

The comment added, “If she had a boyfriend and there are witnesses that they had been fighting that is most definitely something worth looking into. Let us see the proof that he had an alibi that night.. ? let us see the footage from the gas station she was seen at.. which direction did she leave in? like if they arent going to do s— please let us have the evidence and do some personal investigating.”
