With just the one episode devoted to exploring the history between Matt and Elektra, him taking her to Fogwell’s Gym (a location which factored heavily into the season one flashbacks addressing Matt’s relationship with his father) was a smart way to show that there was once a very strong connection between these two.

Them discovering that there was much more to the other than meets the eye was also great, while the surprisingly beautifully shot sex scene which followed was very well handled. These scenes quickly made us buy into the relationship and for that, they deserve praise.
