Unlike Jessica Jones before him, when Marvel’s Luke Cage finally makes his bow late next week, a select handful of Netflix subscribers – specifically those who binged through Jones‘ inaugural season – will already be acquainted with Mike Colter’s Power Man.

A reluctant hero struggling to maintain a run of decent – let alone good – luck, yesterday brought forth an insightful new featurette for Luke Cage, which was essentially designed to dot the i’s and cross the t’s regarding Cage’s decision to swap the bright lights of Hell’s Kitchen for Harlem. If moving pictures aren’t your thing, or if you’re simply on media blackout until September 30, Netflix and Marvel Studios have today presented an alternative – a fresh wave of high-res images spotlighting Mike Colter’s musclebound lead and the supporting cast around him.

From Mahershala Ali’s glowering Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes to Simone Missick’s – “I don’t seek justice. I stalk it.” – Misty Knight, those pics above are a sound jumping off point if you’re unfamiliar with the Luke Cage lore. Beyond that, there’s also another three character posters to stand alongside those previous one-sheets spotlighting the show’s leading ladies.

“Everybody wants to be the king.” Look out for Luke Cage muscling his way onto Netflix on September 30, when showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker will be introducing viewers to the third of Marvel’s four Defenders. The final pillar of that quartet, Iron Fist, will make his debut in early 2017. As for Cage, you can have a gander at our glowing review for Coker’s series here.
