ABC Confirms They’re Moving Ahead With Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Spinoff Starring Mockingbird

Last summer, it was revealed that Marvel were working on an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff revolving around Adrianne Palicki’s Mockingbird and her ex-husband, Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). Provisionally titled Marvel’s Most Wanted, neither ABC nor Marvel ever confirmed that it was actually in development, but that changed today at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Praising the script as “really good,” ABC President Paul Lee announced at the event that they’re moving forward with a pilot, though no additional details were revealed about when it will air (this Fall seems somewhat likely).

However, we did find out last year that the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff is going to continue the stories of Mockingbird and her ex-husband, following their adventures together away from Agent Coulson and company. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. producers Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski co-created the project and are co-writing the pilot, so there’s a solid team working on Marvel’s Most Wanted behind the scenes.

Whether or not this premise will actually work remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an interesting enough idea, especially as Mockingbird has become a fan-favourite character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
