After Grant Ward met his end at the hand(s) of Agent Coulson in the midseason finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., most fans rightly guessed that the entity that inhabited his body and hitched a ride back to earth was in fact the parasitic creature known as Hive.

Of course, in the comics, Hive looks nothing like actor Brett Dalton – but if the promo for next week’s episode, “Paradise Lost,” is any indication, we’re going to be seeing the character undergo quite the transformation.

During last night’s installment, Hive finally decided to stop moping around in his room looking like an extra from The Walking Dead and spruced himself up for a nice meal with Gideon Malick. The highly perceptive being was only too well aware that what Malick really craves is ultimate power, and set about trying to get it for him.

Of course, that didn’t work out so well thanks to Daisy and her pals, but next week it seems Hive is going to try a new tactic: revealing his “true self” to the world. From the look on Malick’s face, I can’t imagine it’s a pretty sight.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on Tuesday, April 12.
