Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Casts Natalia Cordova-Buckley As Slingshot

The synopsis for the midseason finale of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. hinted that Daisy (Chloe Benett) would be finalizing her team of Secret Warriors to go up against the forces of HYDRA, and that would seem to be confirmed with the addition of Mexican actress Natalia Cordova-Buckley (Windows to the Sea, McFarland, USA) to the cast.

The synopsis for the midseason finale of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. hinted that Daisy (Chloe Bennet) would be finalizing her team of Secret Warriors to go up against the forces of HYDRA, and that would seem to be confirmed with the addition of Mexican actress Natalia Cordova-Buckley (Windows to the Sea, McFarland, USA) to the cast.

According to Point Of Geeks, Buckley will play Yo Yo Rodriguez, AKA Slingshot. This Marvel Comics character is a speedster like The Flash and X-Men‘s Quicksilver, but unlike them, her power eventually slingshots (hence the name) her back to the point she started running from.

It’s an interesting twist on the usual super-speed ability, and will hopefully make for a cool visual on the show. In the comics, Rodriguez was actually the daughter of the supervillian known as The Griffin, and gained her powers through his mutated DNA – but you can expect an Inhuman makeover for her small screen debut.

When exactly that will be is not specified, but there’s a good chance we’ll meet her on the midseason finale of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., titled “Maveth,” on December 8.
