In news that isn’t all too surprising but still welcome, Deadline is reporting that Amazon has given Jack Ryan a “10-episode straight-to-series order.” Starring John Krasinski as the titular hero, the show comes to us from Lost‘s Carlton Cuse and writer Graham Roland.

If you recall, Jack Ryan first pulled into Amazon back in the spring and found itself with a series commitment, which is why we said none of this is too surprising – especially now that Krasinski has been locked in. The Office actor hasn’t done a whole lot on the big screen since his time on NBC’s series came to an end, but he’s an enjoyable screen presence and should be a big draw here.

Said to be a “reinvention with a modern sensibility,” Jack Ryan will follow the CIA analyst “as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

Of course, Krasinski is far from the first actor to play the iconic character, and with the likes of Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin, among others, taking on the role before him, he’s definitely got some big shoes to fill. Despite not having much experience in the action genre, we’re still confident that he can do a good job. We’ve always been big fans of his work and are excited to see him return to the small screen in what we’re hoping turns out to be a more successful outing for Jack Ryan than the 2014 film starring Chris Pine.

Tell us, are you looking forward to seeing Krasinski bring Tom Clancy’s iconic character to life now that Amazon has given the series the green light? Sound off below and let us know!
