AMC Summons BTS Featurette For Preacher Season 2 As Fresh Character Posters Claw Their Way Out Of Hell

Preacher season 2 is almost upon us and to drum up excitement, Nerdist has summoned another round of suitably stylish character posters.

If the opening season of Preacher drew flak for straying too far from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s irreverent, jet-black source material, the show’s second coming promises to align itself more with the cult comic book series that first clawed its way onto the scene in ’95.

Not only has Dominic Cooper teased a radically different tone ahead of Preacher season 2, but the show’s braintrust – namely producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin – has kept one ear to the ground to take heed of fan feedback.

Following up on last year’s explosive finale, Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) set off on a divine mission to locate God. It’s a quest that takes our bickering trio into America’s Deep South, and the first teasers for Preacher‘s second season have already teed up a road trip for the books.

Why, you ask? Because Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy will be keeping one eye on their rear-view mirror in fear of spotting The Saint of Killers, and it’s this nervy pursuit that dovetails with the beginning of Ennis and Dillion’s original series. Indeed, if Preacher‘s inaugural season was viewed as a prequel of sorts, then next month’s batch of 13 episodes will surely herald a story arc that feels more familiar to those who have indulged in the comics. Casting-wise, we know that AMC has tapped six newcomers in anticipation of season 2, including Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones), Star Wars actress Pip Torrens, Julie Ann Emery (Better Call Saul) Malcolm Barrett, Ronald Guttman, and Justin Prentice, who was last seen in Netflix drama, 13 Reasons Why.

The second coming of Preacher is almost upon us – June 25th is the date for your diaries – and you can check in on the show’s primary power players via the gallery below, courtesy of Nerdist.
