An MCU fixture since 2008 finally returns in ‘Secret Invasion’ finale trailer

In its journey across 11 films and two series, it has never broken form... until the Disney Plus series.

Secret Invasion has been touted by many as the return to peak MCU of the past. But while it is trying to restore Marvel’s past glory one episode at a time, it had been missing a core part of the cinematic universe, which has been a constant in all films since 2008. But not for much longer.

Things in the world of MCU have changed a lot, and nothing has been a better example of the drastic transformations than Secret Invasion, where the cunning and clever Nick Fury has been reduced to dropping cool lines while getting bested by the villains at every turn. It’s because of his half-baked plans that Maria Hill, his friend Talos, and numerous other lives have been lost — his dwindling confidence shows in his defeated body posture…

… and his missing eye patch!

Fury’s iconic eye patch has been MIA since the first episode of Secret Invasion, which has been a big mystery in itself and another one of the series’ plot choices that defeated logic in the absence of a credible backstory

You see, we could have chalked it up to Fury’s broken soul that has been dealing with the aftermath of the Blip. But the man was wearing his trademark look the last time we saw him — while he was in space and getting the intel about Mysterio at the end of Spider-Man: Far Away From Home. His running away to space soon after returning to life is a sign of his inability to face life, but what further happened that he ditched the eye patch — which practically highlights then triple underlines his whole personality — and returned to Earth with an even more shattered willpower?

What really had been baking our noodles was the reappearance of the eye patch in the trailer for The Marvels. But four episodes went by without so much as a hint to answer what will bring about that addition.

Well, while we might or might not get the answers, the eye patch is all set to return in the remaining two episodes of Secret Invasion, as far as its finale trailer is concerned.

Does losing Talos remind Fury he needs to get back in his element before he loses more people? Or is G’iah discovering the labyrinth of human cocoons going to do the trick?

The penultimate episode of Secret Invasion is all set to air this July 19.
