Arrested Development Season 4 Gets An Extension

The return of Arrested Development on Netflix is, like, the greatest news ever, news that might only ever be improved through the promise of even more episodes - and we all know how unlikely that would be, because the world isn't that kind, and Netflix aren't that good. The return of Arrested Development on Netflix is, like, the greatest news ever, news that might only ever be improved through the promise of even more episodes – and we all know how unlikely that would be, because the world isn’t that kind, and Netflix aren’t that good. Except Netflix are that good, apparently, and it’s actually happening, and maybe we’ll get world peace and the polar icecaps will stop melting and…

You’re right. One thing at a time.

Yes, those writers over at Arrested Development H.Q. have been extremely prolific according to recent reports, something that shouldn’t strike fans as being too surprising, granted that they’ve been laid off for nearly six years, some of whom have survived by selling their souls to terribly-realised remakes of British TV shows.

There’s so much new material, though, that the original plan to put out 10 episodes has been increased to somewhere between 12 and 15, meaning that, yes, there’s at least 44 minutes of added meta-references, Carl Weathers jokes and obligatory cries of “Steve Holt!”, you know, just ’cause.

“We are thrilled with the direction of the show, with the footage we have seen and with the relationship between Mitch, Imagine, 20th and Netflix,” said an unnamed Netflix spokeswoman. “At this time, we are not confirming or announcing the final episode count but we are sure fans will be thrilled when we do,” she added, suggesting that, yes, we’re right about this extra episode thing, or somebody needs to fire that spokeswoman for acting a little too much like Dr. Wordsmith.

Excited about the possibility of even more Arrested Development episodes? Hey, that’s the name of the show!
