To this point, it’s become quite common for Arrow‘s biggest of bads to return even after they’ve enjoyed ample time in the spotlight. If you’ll recall, Malcolm Merlyn stuck around for quite a while after season 1, Deathstroke sporadically popped up here and there to both confound and team up with Oliver Queen, and Damien Darhk played a huge part over on Legends of Tomorrow. Heck, even the deceased Prometheus has come back as a hallucination.
Already, we’ve become aware of how the Longbow Hunters will factor into season 7, but it’d be unwise to think the producers don’t have any other cards hidden up their sleeves. In fact, it’s very possible that we’ll see the return of none other than Ra’s al Ghul.
According to Spoiler TV, episode 7.05 will be titled “The Demon,” so you can certainly understand why people are thinking the former League of Assassins leader will be making a comeback. Of course, this is no guarantee of Matt Nable returning, as this show has established that “Ra’s al Ghul” is more so a bestowed title and not a name given by birth, so we’ll have to wait and see.
But if indeed Nable’s set to return to Star City, it’d make sense, especially now that the mysterious Thanatos Guild have uncovered the location of various Lazarus Pits scattered about the globe. That said, it’d take one devout loyalist to drop the corpse of their fallen leader into one of those mystical Jacuzzis.
Another possibility is that the title could be passed on to another person, for both Malcolm Merlyn and Nyssa al Ghul inherited it after Nable’s character met his end in season 3’s finale. With Thea Queen skipping town, it’s anybody’s guess as to whom that may be, but this development adds all the more intrigue to the next chapter in the saga.
Arrow returns for its seventh season on Monday, October 15 on The CW.
