First Arrow Season 8 Trailer Marks The Beginning Of The End

Over the course of its illustrious history, Arrow has accomplished much more than your average TV show. In addition to being the first live action series headlined by the Emerald Archer, it brought us exciting new interpretations of Black Canary, Deathstroke, Ra's al Ghul, Arsenal and countless others. Not only that, but it spawned an entire universe of DC-themed shows existing within the same continuity, which has been appropriately dubbed "the Arrowverse."

As such, each fall has brought us some wild crossovers joining each series, with the next being “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” Normally, these are isolated events for the most part, but the next one on the docket will alter the Arrowverse landscape like never before – something that lead actor Stephen Amell has already hinted at, beginning with his own show.

In fact, Arrow‘s eighth and final season looks to separate itself from previous years, as evidenced by the new trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con. But since Oliver Queen’s personal crusade pretty much concluded with season 7’s finale, it makes sense that the remaining ten episodes take us in an unexpected direction.

Unfortunately, a lot of what we see here is footage from previous runs, with the teaser acting as a sort of reflection on Oliver’s journey so far, but we do get a few new bits in the closing moments. And what The CW shows off is sure to get fans excited – especially since we catch a glimpse of some awesome new costumes for a few of the characters.

For more on what to expect from this season, be sure to check out the official synopsis:

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, Oliver successfully saved his city with the help of his team including former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), former protégé Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez), metahuman Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) and Earth-2 Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy).

In the wake of discovering what his future holds, Oliver will find himself pit against his most challenging battle yet, one that will leave the multiverse hanging in the balance. In Arrow’s final season, Oliver Queen is forced to confront the reality of what it means to be a hero. Based on the characters from DC, ARROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Riverdale”), Beth Schwartz (“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”) and Sarah Schechter (“The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Riverdale”)
