To those who read comic books, this is a pretty big deal. So far, we’ve yet to see the acclaimed story written by Mark Waid and painted by Alex Ross adapted to live action or animation, so we’ll take what we can get. Who knows, maybe this’ll open the door for one of those possibilities?

Right now, we’re still waiting to see what Routh’s costume will look like, as it’s been guaranteed he won’t dust off his threads from Superman Returns. But thanks to DV Arts on Instagram, we’re given a pretty good idea of what the final product may look like, and you can peep that below.

As you can see, Tyler Hoechlin’s costume was used as the basis for the digital art, and I could actually picture that carrying over to the finished work itself. The reason I say that is because the Supergirl star’s suit was also used as the template for the black counterpart worn during the “Elseworlds” crossover, not to mention the one favored by Mon-El as well.

Actually, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a mock-up of Routh as the aged Superman, but the previous example was more in line with the Red Son color scheme. I find this one to be more in keeping with the Kingdom Come book itself, yet it still honors what the Arrowverse has already established.

“Crisis on Infinite Earths” kicks off on Sunday, December 8th on The CW.
