Black Panther boasts an excellent cast and among the talent on board is Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya. Understandably, he’s excited to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in a recent chat with GQ, he heaped some very high praise on the Ryan Coogler-helmed release.
Asked about his experience working on Black Panther, the British actor compared the highly anticipated 2018 flick to a certain critically acclaimed HBO series:
“This is an African blockbuster, bruv. This is like Game of Thrones. This is crazy. And Ryan Coogler is just, man dem. He’s like us! He’s a normal dude, in a Golden State hat and a Tupac T-shirt directing the whole set. It’s the most beautiful thing to see.”
That’s quite the compliment, not to mention an extremely intriguing remark. In Black Panther, Kaluuya will take on the role of Wakanda’s Chief of Security and commander of the Black Panther armed forces, W’Kabi. Beyond that, we don’t know what to expect from him here, but what does this Game of Thrones comparison mean for the Marvel movie? Well, there are obviously a few different ways it could be interpreted, but if it means Black Panther will deliver the same sort of political intrigue and shocking twists and turns, it’s fair to say that fans of T’Challa are in for a treat here.
While shooting on Black Panther is currently taking place in various parts of the world, very little is known about the movie and not much in the way of official promotional material has been revealed by Marvel just yet. Chances are that could change at Comic-Con, but with production well underway now, it’s possible we’ll hear something even sooner than that. Fingers crossed, eh?
