Hot off the presses, above you’ll see the very first trailer for Star Wars Resistance, the starry animated series coming to Disney XD later this year – October 7th, to be specific, when the Powers That Be will get the ball rolling with an hour-long premiere.

Created by Lucasfilm mainstay Dave Filoni (Rebels, The Clone Wars), Resistance takes place just prior to The Force Awakens, when rookie pilot Kazuda (Kaz) Xiono hopes to do his part by spying on the First Order and, well, things don’t exactly go according to plan – despite the fact that Kaz has Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and BB-8 fighting in his corner.

Together, they’ll be going up against an emboldened First Order, and today’s first-look trailer also alludes to Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and Miss Unkar Plutt, who looks to be every bit as gregarious as her junk-dealing husband.

Like we mentioned before, Star Wars Resistance kicks things off with an hour-long premiere that’s set to revolve around a daring spy mission, as Kaz ventures behind enemy lines to gain precious intel for the Resistance.

Via Lucasfilm:

Resistance fighter Poe Dameron tasks young pilot Kazuda (Kaz) Xiono with spying on the First Order. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength. In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, which is being used by many ships as a port to refuel and do repairs. However, there are also dangerous races taking place there. After Kaz bragged with his piloting skills at his arrival there, he is soon drawn into one of the races…

Star Wars Resistance shoots for Disney XD on October 7th, which ought to help ease the agonizing wait for Episode IX, and with it, the final installment in Lucasfilm’s Skywalker Saga.
