It has only been one episode but HBO’s Boardwalk Empire has already earned itself a second season. The highly anticipated and very well received show set an HBO ratings record, pulling in 4.8 million viewers with its Sunday night premiere. It was HBO’s most watched show since Deadwood (and we all know what happened to that) and due to this, it was instantly renewed for a second season. This is good news as almost everyone I know thoroughly enjoyed the premiere, myself included.

It was a bit complex with all the storylines and characters that were introduced but I think it’s going to prove for a very deep, rich and engaging show. Critics who have seen the first couple episodes have said that it only gets better which is great to hear. I can’t wait to see where the show goes.

It reminded me a lot of The Sopranos and I can only hope that it follows a similar fate. Hopefully it won’t suffer the same fate that Deadwood did.

Did you see Boardwalk Empire this week? If so, what did you think of it?
