If you haven’t heard already, Amazon’s newest show, The Boys, is one wild ride. The series comes close – I’d hope – to capping off the sexual and violence limitations that TV allows. But despite everything we do see, some of the crazier sex acts the creators wanted to include couldn’t make it to the screen.
In a recent interview with EW, The Boys showrunner, Erik Kripke, revealed that there was a sex scene he and the production team had every intention of including in season 1 of the superhero satire but couldn’t. And the reason isn’t because it’d be too obscene or shocking, but because it’d cost too much money to shoot.
Apparently, the series’ premiere episode was supposed to include an additional sex scene in its way-over-the-top sequence. Amongst the chaos Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) witness as they infiltrate a crimefighter sex club would’ve been another shot of “an ice man having sex with a woman doggy-style when she’s wearing a fur coat.” However, as Kripke explains, “it was rejected because it was logistically too difficult to mount on our budget.”
While the visual gag about the “chilling” nature of sex would’ve been perfect, it’s not like that scene from The Boys doesn’t offer plenty of other material in the shocking department. For example, we see an Ant-Man spoof dive head first into a woman’s vagina, as well as a Mr. Fantastic-like character using his body-stretching capabilities to both make out with two men and receive oral pleasure simultaneously.
Like we said, The Boys, currently sitting at an impressive 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, is a jolly good and wild ride. And as it’s an Amazon original series, it’s now available to stream on Prime. If you haven’t checked it out yet, be sure to do so as soon as you can. You’ll thank us later.
