After weeks of speculation, the premiere date for Season 7 of Doctor Who has finally been confirmed. Both the BBC and BBC America websites have revealed that our favorite time traveler would be back on September 1, 2012, thus reassuring fans that the UK and the USA would indeed get the show on the same day. It seems like a weird decision to have waited this long to announce this but on the bright side, we only have about a week left.

With this news came the announcement of a mini-series titled Pond Life, which will premiere on August 27, 2012. The five episodes will be released on the BBC website throughout the week and is written by Chris Chibnall, who has also written two episodes from the new season.

Here’s what he had to say on this series:

“Pond Life provides us with a lovely opportunity to catch-up with Amy and Rory since we saw them at the end of the last series.  It opens with the Ponds at home and gives us an insight in to just what happens when the Doctor drops in and out of their lives.  Travelling with the Doctor is one of the greatest things you can do, but it’s fun to spend a few moments looking at the chaos he can also bring.”

This is great news as not only will it help with the wait for the new season, but I’ve always wanted to see what normal life is like for these two outside of the TARDIS. Plus, the more Amy and Rory the better, as they are set to leave this season.

To cap it all off, BBC America has released another great new trailer for the new season which reveals plenty of new footage and confirms the September 1 premiere date. The trailer focuses more on the character moments than the previous trailers and teases the end for Amy and Rory.

Like Amy says, “I’ve really missed this.”
